FAR TREK --Beta verison of the RPG now available

It is only in beta release but you can find the PDF for the Far Trek Rules at the link to the right.  Character sheets are also available for you to use on the previous posts.

For the weekend, that's all I plan to do as I figured I labored enough here just getting the beta out for you to try and enjoy.

Eventually I will tighten up the loose screws and make a digest version available (at MFG cost-not for profit) for you to purchase if you like.

Your feedback is welcome, both good and bad.

GO BOLDLY!

@Dr. Cool no problem! I know there some font issues and my changing Charisma from CH to CA in the document did not get executed fully across the rules. Hey its a beta for a reason!

I'm not judging on that. I'm judging based on how well the game looks like it'll meet its stated objectives.

I'm skimming, right now -- I'm definitely not using the fine-toothed comb. By page 30, I'm already nodding at it a lot; in fact I'm quite satisfied.

I like how you give the tools to just build extra races instead of listing them all (anyone playing this game is already gonna know enough lore to anyway. I REALLY like the damage system; hit points are just not right for Trek. I dig that you kept the Gold-, Ble- and Red Shirt arrangement, as it was easily my favorite thing about Where No Man...

The starship chase rules are swell, especially that business about the warp drive damage.risk thing. It really gives some urgency and risk to the activity, and I can see it really adding tension to an episode. But what I really like about it is the sense of daring that it invokes. To me, a lot of Trek's appeal is that sense of daring: "We dare to go out there, to the stars, see what's out there, study it, survive it and make peace with it." I see Star Trek TOS as being greatly about courage, and this mechanic invokes it.

Okay, back to reading.

@Dr.-Well Kudos then to Mike Berkey as much of it is his original work I modified his work to fit a more cinematic game style which I felt the original had bottled up inside it. Mike had the vision I just removed the d20 horn rims and put cool red/blue lense 3D glasses on it.

Hi!
I've added a link to your blog in reference to the beta Far Trek rules. It's right at the end of a rambling post about about Star Trek. Hope that's okay. :)
